heheh

right just been out trying to work out why my battery is discharging so quick on the ph2

voltage across neg and pos on the battery with it connected in the car is 12.75 volts

remove the neg lead and measure voltage from neg lead to neg terminal on the battery is 11.5 volts

does this suggest a dodgy earth somewhere?

the neg lead from battery to carbody in the batt tray is clean and not frayed, the earth strap from the metalwork by the battery to the rear engine lift bracket is clean, unfrayed and secure, all the alt connections seem to be secure, starter motor is also all connected up fine and secure.

lost now lol

oh its a new battery by the way and it was doing the same thing with the old battery, the old battery is now on the chammy and that starts first time on the key

not really.

measure the voltage with the earth back on fromt he engine block to the neg terminal, should be 0 if not thats a dodgy earth.

this is the one then the rusty bits look like they are the ones for the heat shield bolts, and the other 2-3 holes must be to the starter

yes shacks and it bolts to the block not the starter. The 2 holes on the long vertical bit at the bottom is where the 13mm bolt to the back of the starter goes through

cool neo.

theres loads of room from above, and yes thats right and yes that shield will do the job for a while, its to close to the starter but better than nothing.
