Hey all, not so much a query as just a general question. Im always trawling through Ebay (not Ebay related specifically BTW) and keep seeing these ads for the ECU chip/module/resistor and basically know how it works, but seriously has anyone tryed it? Does it actually work?

I looked at one guy and he had loads of good feedback saying it worked, but most cars wont get much increase if atall, and it surely messes with the emissions and economy as its just burning more petrol?

the only way to do this properly, is to get your ECU remapped for YOUR engine.. the resistor trick will most definately mess with your emissions (lambda)..

its not only that its everyone on e-bay selling there 19 16v saying its is chipped and its got 160+ bhp.its not really worth chipping it imo if your just doing that and maybe an exhaust/induction kit

Well I have got an aftermarket backbox and a proper british made aftermarket induction kit, the induction kit thing can be seen in Member Projects on this forum. But Im taking the advice of other users and steering clear.I wasent really interested in getting one as the cars pretty quick at the mo (while its all running sweet) but I wanted to know some info on them.

i have looked at these 'chipped' motors, and how 'great' they are, and i ask myself, if they are really THAT good, why are you selling it so cheaply?????

also, changing subject slightly, what do you think of these.....

a little of topic again but have you seen that show on sky 1 on tuesdays at 8 pm,vroom vroom.every week they put something on a vauxhall astra to see how much quicker it is ie induction kit, removing interior and so on,and it isnt a big difference really.

lol, just a bit.i think overall he's managed to get to 1/4 a mile 1 second faster than standard so far.every week he aint allowed to spend more than £150 at a time.
cant deny that the 19 sounds really good with a straight through & induction kit, although it doenst do much for it.(speed wise)

yeh,but its a cheap option.Esp if you get a decent induction cheaper than usual! and also for a guy like me whos been driving less than a year an induction kit dosent even need to be listed on my insurance....whereas my exhaust does and it dosent do anything for the car.But both together sound awesome!

i just had a small prang, and had a few before, and not once have i ever been asked to show my licence!
