Does anyone know if there is more than one of these for a 1.4RT or is there only one type?

I'm gonna get a new one tomorrow or monday because I've just got 55miles out of £10 in the past few days which has made me realise there is definately something wrong - until then I though it might just be me imagining things.

Cheers bud, don't want to buy one and find out it's not right. Am I right in thinking it;ll probably be about £15 or so from a local motor factors.

shouldnt be too much, if i were you, i'd get a mate to take you down there, so you can take yours out,so you deffo get the right one!

Suppose that might be an idea - I could just take my dads car with me. Is anyone able to confirm either way if there is only the one type or will I just have to take mine down?


I'll need to see if I can block the hole off though as I don't want to have to drain the coolant which I imagine is the only way to stop it all pouring out.

you'll have to top up the coolant, but its not going to drain completly.

I know which one it is on the engine but I was just wondering if there are more than one type for this engine because somone I know whoe also had to replace this recently on his engine had some trouble as there were loads of different ones to choose from for his engine.

Well give your's a good clean and see if it makes any difference, if not then you will have to get another Wink

Just off the phone to the local motorfactors and he says he has three sensors to do with coolant temperature. They are:

Temperature Transmiter
Temperature Sensor
Engine Management sensor

Which of these three would it be that I need. I think I will just take my one down to avoid any hassle but just want to check first?

I finally got this yesterday and I went to fit it today but had a slight problem. How do you detach the plug thing (that fits over the sensor) from the actual sensor?

I had to remove some stuff (filter, dizzy etc) to get access to it but then couldn't get the plug off it so had to put it all back together again as I needed the car to drive to work and it was getting dark. I'll try again tomorrow but I just need to know how it comes off - I tried a few things but nothing worked so thought there might be some special way of taking it off.

lol, well this fuckin thing isn't. I'll have another go tomorrow but the thing just wouldn't pull off at all today for me. I'll do some press ups tonight and hope I wake up super strong.

lol, tried that earlier and a wee chip of plastic snapped off (not a big bit though.) I'll figure it out tomorrow.

its got a metal retainign clip on it/

you can normally wiggle it off by holding the plug and wiggling and pulling.

If it won;t move use a small screwdriver to lever the metal clip out a bit.

Yeah I saw the metal clip chris but could see how it would come off or if it was supposed to. How exactly does the clip come off - I'll try and see tomorrow but just so that I know before hand.
