this has been about for months, pravtical classics have been making a gfuss abotu it and have had replies from mp's but they don't tell us anything.

But it looks like it will be SVA test, may also require re-registering the car and having it 2010 emmisions compliant which means cats etc wil be needed

ah well this is just about right for this country!! I would like to know they are going to make this a retrospective law? as how many cars are registered as modified? like with mine as far as the dvla is concerned it is still a r5 gtx with a 1.7l engine it is road legal and meets all current legal requirements for the road. does this mean that classic mini coopers will need to be tested with a cat I don't think so! nor mustangs or earley aston's or ferraris it just doesn't seem possible! how modified is modified? hmm sounds like a ill conceived and ill advised law. do you know my seat belt fails a mot because its not e1 marked! but it is a FIA 5 point 3 inch harness made to a higher spec than a normal 3 point E1 marked seat belt, it makes you think don't it? my seat is fia marked will that meet higher mot standards? no because mot standards are lower than FIA standards!

On the continent they already have to put up with this stuff, it was only a matter of time before we got it, I'm surprised it's taken this long tbh.

Heard on the news today that they increasing fines for stuff like littering (not a bad thing) but adding to that list, putting your bins out too early (up to £200 fine) and doing car repairs in the street (up to £200 fine)

what a fucker, i could get fined for working on my car outside my house!

The Germans have all sorts of rules like that.

You're not allowed to hang out washing on a Sunday or wash your car, stuff like that.
