well now I have this car I need to firgure out what to do with it.

I have a 1.4 energy lump (2 actually), I have a 16V lump and running gear and wiring loom.

GTT would be easy enough but the main problem is lack of funds.

Main benefits would be sleeper look, the fact its a 3 door, no rust and best of all no SUNROOF. So don't need to worry about nigh on 50kg's in the wrong bit of the car.

Opinions please.

GTT i say! obviously all other things like suspension uprated to 16v spec

otherwise due to lack of funds, make it a valver

yeah well everything is gonna be valver spec, got the 16V brakes, front an drear, need to sort out calipers are the fronts have snapped nipples and a rear caliper has a buggered bleed nipple thread.

Got 16V front and rear dampers, 16V rear axle (on the blue prima no bias valve Smile ) 16V interiors in it, got a 16V dash but its damaged but the loom can be swapped over easily enough.

Only prob is the exhaust, i binned a complete 16V exhaust including CAT for scrap like a right muppet.

Need a 16V/injection tank so run a 16V lump.

Will see, no real rush but the sooner the better.

Major prob in the fact the engine I have is missing a CTS and ICV and its popped otu its boxes diff circlip 3 times...

To make it a GTT I can just get the turbo manifold, turbo, downpipe, I can make the loom and a GTT fuel pump and run it stock CR with decent charge cooling. Only prob is the engines so cack I dunno if it would appreciate the extra CR, but I could convert it to EFI I suppose.

make it a valver, you know you want to Smile

or you could just get a new valver to sort out.

you see a new one would cost money so I can't get a new un.

I am more swayed towards 16V'ing it myself.

But I wanna do the gtt set up so i can see exactly whats involved then undercut everyone else for conversion prices. Its not a hard swap right enough.

yes well you know how I mentioned it was involved in a police chase? Well the guy that owns its brother was the driver, now its been signed over to him and its now gonna get stripped then crushed.

He got caught, police chopper clocked him at 138mph in a 30 zone, hes out on bail which is surprising as normally he would have been remanded.

Guess the car wasn't so buggered after all either.

Anyway cars getting stripped then the shell etc crushed as its not going on the road again.

Do i recall you saying that the 16v lump you have in your back garden sat on a trolly you nicked from B&Q was out of your hatch? And is this the engine you always felt, for watever reason, was "faster" then normal 16vs? In which case, stick it in the Redun.

But if you do convert it into a 16v you have to make it a bit diffrent to make the effort worth while. Like make sure you don't put alloys on it, just get some 15" steelies on it and keep it like that.

You have to make it special though, not a great deal of point in turning it into "another 16v" it would be easier just to get another cheap valver for that pourpose.

So maybe the leave it as is or 1.4 energy would be a better idea, and maybe try and get hold of a R11 or a Renault Van or something to stick the 16v lump into?

well you see it wouldn't be a normal 16V as theres no sunroof, so that straight away makes it 40+kg's lighter int he roof.

yes its the demon engine, but I fancy doing a wee bit more work on it before dropping it in. Bit of headwork and maybe a new set of bearings and rings.

But I did think of stripped out nothingness and the 16V lump in. But then I am back to having an interior taking up space.

Current plan body wise is, as it stands this is the lightest version of the 19 there was.

Currently the drivers subframe is the non height one so thats saved 6kg's, it does have the heavy rear seat back though as the 16V is split folding but thats staying.

I want to remove the rear wiper but its staying cos its so handy, the chamade not having one is a PITA. But I will see what i can do about making the motor, bracket and tailgate lighter.

there will be no 16V bumpers, side skirts or spoiler, so thats a good 20/30kg's saved No fogs or anything either. No leccy windows or anything either.

So basically its gonna look like it does the now from the outside.

I have a spare set of ph1 16V alloys which will be going on, they are lighter than steelies plus I can fit 16V brakes behind them. Plus good tyres cheap prices.

Also due to the cut out in the rear bumper the only system that will fit is the small ph2 type 16V exhaust so there will be no large neddy exhausts. Sadly I binned mine Sad

I will stick some ph1 16V alloys on it and take a pic so we can see what it will look like externally.

Its still gonna look like a cheap 1.4 with a set of alloys and a shiny tailpipe at worst!

also the PS rack I have spare is fecked so it'll be manual rack which means I need to sort out a shorter aux belt etc but means less parasitic losses.

So its gonna be a good chunk lighter than a normal 16V.

Anyway I can do the rest of the work then we can see what to do with the engine.

The 16V suspension, brakes etc are going on, shame I binned my 16V wishbones, be as well getting new though really.
