Ah, so today I head off on the 67 miles to Bridgewater to meet DanLP and hopefuly fit my dogbone mount and thermostat and have him give the car the once over.

So on my way, at about 8:50am, in 5th gear @ 80mph, next minute, *pop* jumps out of 5th, revs jump to the limiter and we 've got no more 5th gear.

It keeps popping out.

So now I have to sit on the M5 Motorway in 4th gear doing 70Mph Sad

Eventualy meet Dan at are meeting point and he has a look under the bonent and notices it smells of gearbox oil, so we head over to his house and by the time we get there the gearbox is giving out some very dodgy noises.

Anyways, turns out the box is very low on oil. So put 1.5 litres in and still needs more. So a 6 mile trip down to Halfords with some spiritied driving from Dan and we pick up some Halfords 1 litre gearbox oil @ typical rip off Halfords prices.

Come back and the box drinks all that and is eventualy full. So start her up and omfg sounds rough as fuck. Phone around a few breakdown companies and they want £104 to go 10 miles so they can piss off.

So we decide to give it a go and drive the car, push it out onto Dans road inbetween cars lol and it actulay drove, although very noisy. So I start to make my way home with Dan following for a bit, all gears seem to be working, then eugh won't go into 4th..or 3rd, so stuck with 2nd gear Sad

Anyways, with not much more to lose I hit the Motorway and trust me doing 40Mph in 2nd in the slow lane takes the piss; having 40ft lorries overtaking you does too.

So deciding that it's too slow and dangerous I pull into the next services where I phone my dad. He manages to sort out a flatbed truck, so after 2 hours waiting he turns up with a nice big Ford, drive on flatbed.

On the Clio goes and off we set Very Happy

The Clio is now sat at a friedns garage awaiting a new gearbox.

I have some pics of the Clio on the flatbed but canneh find my fooking phone>PC lead Sad

Anyways, classic Renault day tbh, was good meeting Dan and I have to say agian, cheers for helping me mate.

Now I need to know what boxes will fit the Clio 16v?

The dude has a 1.6 16v Megane at his garage with a complete box? Will this fit?

Any other boxes to go for?

Pics will be up when I can find that lead.

Cheers.

I still think you should have got that other Clio Valver. That's the way of life with em. Chunk 19 box don't feel tight to me, But he never break it as he never goes quick.
