ok gents, apologies if this sounds like a bit of a neddy question but...

is there any chance a renault 21 turbo engine could fit in a 19?

Engine mounting issues aside, would the engine physically fit in the 19 bay?

Please dont berate me if its blatantly too big just by looking at it, as I have no experience of 21s, let alone the turbo engine.

your biggest problem is the way its mounted, the engine in the 19 is transversely mounted and the 21T is horexontaly mounted (not too sure thats how you said it! could be vice vesa too!!) then once you have welded in new mounts if it does actually sit in the bay (fook knows if it will you gotta tape measure have you?!?!)
but i recon the angles of the drive shaflt might be well dodgy too, stick it in the boot, then you'll have some fun!!!!

I imagine that getting it mounted good would be a major pain in the arse, would be better going with a V6 lump...

u need to use a p6 gearbox out of a safrane txi. itl bolt up correctly, and sit transversely. ul need to sort out the mounts and gear shift mech. besides that, not difficult...

like Jimbo said.

But why not get a better engine in there instead.

The 21T lump is ok but its 8valve and quite limited.

i suppose anything is possible mate if you chuck enough money at it you can do anything, theres a place near me put an rstubo engine in the back of a 106 nobody would have thought that was possible a few years ago. did cost him alot of money to doit i think £10,000 ish they cut a front floor pan out of an orion and welded it in the back.
why not go down the turboing the valver route would be better.

if i was gunna go for big power, id prolly use the 21t lump. its all alloy, so its nice n light, and ud fly along with 220bhp up front in a 19. tho the 24v v6 wud be potent, especially with the clio v6 mods. 255bhp any1, mwhahahahahahaahaha

a YB lump would sit at 220bhp all day and not sweat, I ran one with 500 bhp and it was ok, only prob was the rest of the driveline tbh.

A v8 woudl be nice, unstressed, big capacity and big power, and they are not very big either. A lot smaller and lighter than you think.

A 5 litre ford V8 is smaller and lighter than the uk essex and cologne ford V6's and a damn sight cheaper to rebuild.
