 r1916v brake problem :(

hi everyone! new to this site so sorry if im writing in the wrong place!?!
anyway, ive just bought a phase2 r19 16v! its my favourite car of all i think!! ive got a problem with the brakes tho! it has ABS, the pedal is quite hard to push but the brakes still stop u! but then suddenly they can stop working altogether! the ABS warning light comes on and the pedal goes to the floor an dont stop u! also the brake fluid level rises and overflows out the tank????? leave it a hour or so, start it up and they work again?? sts in rainham said the brakes r spot on but M.Y services in twydall said they think its the ABS pump??? now im confused :( any ideas anyone???? my msn is: alanjdavies01@hotmail.co.uk

It's a K-reg isn't it

Yep, Bendix ABS is knackered basically. Do a search, there are loads of threads on it.

he's decided to just scrap the car, but you don't have to.

what ya think i should do then? i not even 100% sure it is the ABS pump yet?? took it to 2 places an only 1 of them mentioned the pump an they wernt sure of it themselfs??? more of a guess really!

take out the ABS and replace it with a normal servo setup.

ill keep it in mind, gota try an find out for sure if its the pump at fault first?? brakes r fine at moment! only stopped working once in the last 2 weeks??? any idea how i can put some pics up on here of my r19?

you need to host them somewhere like uploadit.org, then right click the picture you want to display, go to properties to find out its address, then post it between [img] tags:

[img]http://www.photohostname.com/photoname.JPG[/img]

Don't bother fixing the ABS, it's only a matter of time before it puts you in a ditch anyway. You'll probably have to take the engine out to fix it, so just remove it and put a normal pedal box and servo in. Cheaper, easier and more reliable in the long run.
