Hey all,

Some quick questions:

1.Will an R5 GTT exhaust manifold fit a standard campus manifold?

2.I have a late 92/early 93 R5 1.4 with single point injection rather than a carb, possible to fit bigger injectors?

3.would some GTT springs work ok if they were cut? Im talking cutting the equivalent of another 20mm off....

Any help would be muchly appreciated!

1. No, as thats 2 manifolds. The manifold will fit the engine though but then you need a turbo and a downpipe etc.

2. Yes btu theres no point at all, the 5's injection system is so shite its not funny, thats why so many are scrapped, its extremely expensive to sort and its an oddball so nothign shared, normal CTS's for the rest of the cars are 12 quid, the 5's is £140!

3. Yes but you don't cut a wee bit off cut a coil off. That will be about 30mm drop at most.

better to change to another engine in all honesty.

Engines I would go for.

1. Due to you being a young un and insurance costs etc a 1.4 energy engine from a 19/clio. Benefits, GREAT engine, one of the best you'll get. Instant 20bhp more than the C type thats in there. Cheaper parts etc. Also you only need to change the engine number on the v5 and you can get away without declaring it to the insurers as well.

2. 1.6 energy engine, this is out the megane, 30bhp more and around 90ftlb of torque, not that great compared to its smaller 1.4 brother. Also puts it in the higher road tax bracket, not worth it for the gains.

3. 16V 1.8, more than double the existing bhp, cheap and plentiful. Insurance won;t liek it.

4. 2l 16V same as 1.8 but a bit faster and a bit dearer.

5. GTT lump, archaic and over rated, especially for day to day living.

boltign the engine in place will take about an hour at most.

fuel lines will need changed from the metal ones that are there, easy job though.

then the ECU will need to be mounted near the battery.

energy downpipe should bolt up to the 5's cat.

they don;t gunge up unless the breathers are clogged and that affects the SPI's as well.

Maybe not as bad as the general! I will strip and clean that bad boy.
