Once a torsion bar has been lowered, how do you go about setting it to its original height?

I read somewhere ages ago, well, off these very forums infact, about the torsion bar being held in by pressure.

So how can I go about setting the torsion bar back to how it was from the factory?

Cheers.

Have you lowered a torsion bar before? I redid mine recently and to lift it I unbolted the bottom of the shocks, got the bar out and then pushed the arm down whatever amount you want to lift it by. Put it all back together and it should be higher up.

Yeah i have lowered it loads of times before on my old RT.

When I raised it on the RT by aking the torsion bar out and moving the arms down it hardly even raised up.

So just to double check, I have unbolt the shocks, then take the torsion bar out and push the arms down as I wish, re-insert torsion bar and connect shocks back up? in that order?

Cheers.

Thats all there is to it. You might have to push the arms down a fair bit as after your put the bar back in it usually settles up a bit higher. I only lifted mine up about 2-3cm but I puched the arms down agood bit more.

Best thing to do is measure from the wheel arch to the hub, take the bar out and lift it then put it back together and measure the gap again, its alot easier than putting the wheels back on etc..

Why do you need to take the shocks off to get the torsion bars out? Didn't need to on my RT..

Anyway's have you raised it as i'm looking to raise mine too but last time I tried the hubs didn't drop like they did the 1st time so I got worried and left it.

you don't but it makes it sso much easier. And to raise it to standard height you need to take the shock bolt out.

I never took the shock bolt out to raise my old RT, just whacked the hub with a hammer till it went down, then replaced the bars! Clampit style.

taking the shock bot out will let u pull the torsion bar out by hand, in my experience anyway.
