 Rear disc backplates

how many of us run with these still on the car?

Mine still has them but they be rusty says I. I reckon they should come off, if only to reduce unsprung weight.

My old black on never had them, we binned them off the cossie, old 21t had them, Georges 16V didn't have them, me Saab (bless) had them.

mines got em..and yeah rusty as anything...looks awful..whats meant to be their purpose? what are theyattached to?

I usually remove them also whenever brakes are done, they always look hideous and i nearly lost a thumb to particularly sharp rusty vw effort.

I usually whip em off to, but they will need drillign off.

Its to keep crap away from the back of the disc Jonny.

they are attached to the trailign arm by 3 bolts if I remember correctly.

To the bin they be going then.

i took mine off last year wen i repalced rear discs. mine wer actually plastic1 lol

so why do rear discs need the crap keepin off one side of them and not on the front?

Because they get some protection from the wheel jonny, esp if you are running wheels like turbines.

fronts need more coolign and a lot of cars do come with front disk back plates.
