I managed to aquire an entire R19 16v brake/hub/hub carrier setup today and i've got two questions;

The calipers are from an early example and have been sitting a while - whats the best way of getting them working well again? I know theres a servicing kit Renault do but is there an easier/cheaper way?

Also, the discs that came with the setup are in decent condition - i.e no 'lip' at the edge - so i think they could be used again. Unfortunately they're covered in quite a bit of surface rust so whats the best way of getting rid of this...and cost if need be?

Very Happy

discs if they are not pitted or heavily corroded will clean up when on the car.

As for calipers you want new ones go buy new ones!

The seal kit is extortion and only any use if the calipers are ok.

See if you can unscrew the bleed nipple, if it snaps off then you have problems unless you have a welder.

You can pull the calipers apart and clean them up, theres pics of it in one of my progress reports, project Y early pages I beleive.

Yep, got the bleed nipples unscrewed earlier...with difficulty...along with the remains of the brake pipes so i should be good to go.

I'll have a look at that report you mentioned...many thanks as always.
