Hello Peeps. Went on a long run the other day down the M6. Noticed the ABS light came on. After stopping for a while, the light stayed off for a few minutes travelling, then came on Sad . I have read a few posts and they talk about cleaning the reluctor rings? What are these babies, where do I find them and what is the process for cleaning them?

I dont want to remove the bulb, or connect it to the oil light, as getting to the cluster is a pain. Also I dont have the knowledge to remove ABS and change master cylinder.

So any advice on these buggers would be appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

the rings are behind the discs, just a bunch of square teeth, you cant miss them. No need to remove the hub, just the wheel. Give them a wire brushing if theyre caked up. Could also be the sensors, but they dont come out of the hubs without a fight, be warned.

if the teeth are corroded, chipped of the ring is cracked then thats your problem. If theres rust under the ring it can swell out causign it to run wonky so the gaps not the same at all times, a wormn wheel bearing will also cause issues like this.

Also check the resistance of the sensors.

Had a look. Not much to see. Your right about the sensors being in tight. I had a little go but deceided that they were not coming out without damaging them. Checked all the electrical connections and gave them a little spray. Been out for a driv e and ABS light stays off now. Guess it may of been dirty contacts, but we will see. Thanks for all the info though. Razz
