 Remoing thermostatic fan switch

do i just need to pull it off or twist squeeze etc? ive been told to take the plug off and then bridge the connection and just drive around and see if i still have the same tempreature problems

Family freind who's been a mechanic for a long time, but i only spoke to him over the phone as he isn't able to come and have a look till saturday.

bridging the fan will have it on all the time, take it on the motorway and with the fan on it'll soon get very hot indeed.

That test is only any use if the cars stuck in traffic.

Don't drive around like that.

Surely you only have to do the bridging thing to find out whether it's the fan or thermostat that's gubbed?

yeah bridging the connector will tell you straight away if your fan is working as it will kick in...even with the ignition off.

just leave the thing idle on the drive til the temp gets to the point where the fan should kick in...if it doesnt then its your switch. (assuming you already did the bridge test and the fan works)
