Hi All

been a while since i got rid of my ren19 but ive just got a renault laguna 2.0 16v estate. good for camping and the dog!

However i cant get the boot to lock? The solenoid for the central locing doesnt work and for some reason the key just swivels in the lock casing?

Any ideas as to whats going on, Is this common fault?

s reg 1998 2.0 16v estate.

thanks in advance

you have to take the boot lock out mate.

there is a little u/v shaped clip that holds the barrel in place which has either broken or slipped into the wrong position.

once you have done that you might find the c/l locks the boot too but if not the kew will be working again.

that clip is not the one to hold it to body of the car btw.

common laguna problem gay design.

The barrel is designed to spin if the wrong key is put in or a screwdriver so it can't be forced. great in theory crap in practice. Not helped by the fact the key is never used in the lock due to central locking.

When the right key goes ina flap drops so the key will turn the arm.

Thing is the flap eventually siezes up.

This means the key spins and spins. Solution is remove the flap, only thing is then the lock can be opened with a lolipop stick. My sisters lagunas door locks are all like this, the drivers door I removed the flap on, as if the central lockign failed or the battery died only way in is with a brick.

You need to check the solenoid for power to it, the wires may be broken or the solenoid may just be dead (common problem, can sometimes be brought back for a while by activating it manualy a load of times).

OK Then

Rather then feck the boot lock up i decied to check the wiring from the engine to the boot. Low and behold where the wiring exits the car chasis into the boot door the wires had split. The constant movinf of the boot door up and down must have snapped them!

The boot lock is fecked but at least now the central locking is working.

Renault quoted me £91.00 for a new lock.MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM NOPE!!

For some reason i cant get my renault dialogys working under mce 2005??? If anyone has some working pc dialogys and not mac ones id appreciate it if yopu conatcted me or sent them to me!!!
