time has come, the tired litle engine of my 1390cc R19 is coming to the end of its life, dont really want to get rid of her though has her body is still solid ( rear arches, nuff said ) and ive spent a bit 'doing' her up.
So was thinking about just changing the engine??!!?? mabye to a 1764cc??
Is this 'do-able'? or will it just cost a rediculous amont of cash?

Any help would be gratefully received

yes you can do it.

By far the easiest and cheapest way will be to buy a complete 16v car and swap virtually everything off it onto your shell.

Why you'd go to all that hassle is another matter altogether.

I can't fault this man.

Emotional attachment to cars happens to us all. Plus he would be faced with the prospect of not getting very much for the 1390cc.

Same here, its the only reason my TD is still on the road after having its engine and both sills replaced Shocked Emotion can be a costly thing.

But its just a case of breaking that cycle!

I had a 1.4 R19 which I loved, put a leather interior in her, lowered with 16v suspension setup and brakes, 16v wheels, nice sound system etc etc.

Bought a blue 19 16v and parked them side by side. By the time I swapped all my 'good' bits onto her I knew I made the right choice!

I still see her around sometimes, the rust on her bonnet has got pretty bad and the rear shocks have blown because she was quite low at the back (shes even lower now!) and I remember her with fond memories - but I got a bloody good price for her.

Only thing thats worse then getting emotionally attached to a car - is having a mate pester you to buy it off you, and then visiting that mate one weekend in January to see your ex-pride and joy - eh Huw? Crying or Very sad Wink
