Just been looking on Mick's site and noticed this pic. I've seen a few websites that offer number plates in this kinda style. I think they look really cool and was wondering if anyone knew if they were road legal or not? None of the websites say anywhere! Doh

I should know really, working for a sign company. We get asked to make numberplates in dodgy fonts all the time, and we gotta say no cuz they ain't legal. Doh. Don't see why not, as long as they're readable from a certain distance etc. Fair play if it's some joined up scrawly shit that you can hardly read tho

Easy way to get around that problem Si, they are for 'show use'

'show use' plates can be any thing u want them to be.

But if the cops pulled you for those kinda plates, I doubt they'd be havin any of a "yeah they're for show use" excuse would they? They'd be like "hmm well you should've put 'em on when you got there". So then I'll be like "hmm......those great big blue lights of yours.....they can't be road legal surely??!"

it is the risk you take, mine are not legal plates but because i have used a nice large font which makes them readable like the legal font, i've had no problems with the boys in blue over them.

If the Police want to pull you they will find an excuse. I think most of the time they can't be arsed anymore but if they want you they will find an excuse no matter what plates you have on the car. Some of the original italic fonts though that were fashionable in the late 90's to early 2000 were seriously taking the piss though and you could barely read them up close Laughing

I'd like some French style plates making up for show's though. Dunno why but I think it'll look cool on a black car.

That's what I like to do though. Let em pull you and go over the car and then, ever so politly ask what the problem is cos it get's right on their tits. Leanne got pulled for doing... and I quote "A formula one grid style start". SO I said to the Police man yeah, she can launch pretty well can't she and she Laughing He thought I was being funny and I thought i was Rolling Eyes

I just don't see the point of getting all pissy with them and giving them an excuse to haul you in the back of their motor

lol, theres no law against launching quickly and accelarating hard, just aslong as you dont exceed the speed limit.

however in the high street a 20mph speed limit is impossible!

Cops pulled me over for havin me fog lights on..........in december........when it was frikkin foggy and also snowing. I mean, for fuck sake. This was part of the ACTUAL conversation.....

Cop: Usually we only use our foglights in bad weather conditions sir.
Me: *I look up at the sky as if to say like are u kiddin me??* Oh, sorry. I was under the impression that snow was a bad weather condition Rolling Eyes

Then they shon a torch into the back of the car where 3 of my sister's mates were. My sister was in passenger seat next to me. So they see that I'm in a car full of girls and are like "hm....so.....going anywhere interesting tonight sir?" and I'm like "yeah, I'm taking my sister and her mates home" and they're like "oh" Rolling Eyes
