Now I've got a Clio and a 19 it looks like I'm gonna have to choose one or the other!

I like 'em both but I can't see any way of being able to keep them both.

Sod's law will say that if I get rid of the 19 the Clio will start being a pain and have things go wrong left right and centre!

I dunno what to do guys, is there any tips/tricks to owning two cars cheaply?

imo no if you drive them both on the road 2 lots of tax insurance mot's etc etc you know the story Sad sorry mate no such thing as cheap motoring Sad I know what you mean though sods law states, sell one car and the other blows up. none of this is much use to you though.

clio is gonna cost you mate so might as well get the 60 quid the scrap man will give you for the 19.

or just run one, keep other off the road...alternate....if u cant bring yourself to get rid of one...

i will be facing the same dilema soon too when i finish the hatch (lol as if)...cos if it goes to plan then i will lyv it and the chammy will become second best straight away, but it would be hard to get rid, ive had it nearly 5 yrs now and love it.

take the 19 off the road when the clio is ready and run around in the clio for a while before making your mind up to get rid of the 19.

thats what I said, use the clio put the v6 in the 19.

What is the clio?

Hes not really as hes driven it at most 1/2 a mile. I drove the test drive and gave it a bit.

So hes not actually really been in the thing! Only me! And he has a wait until August before he can get hios hands on it.

I have done a fair bit to it today.

Just took it round the back road as the rear seats etc are all out cos I was removing some very dodgy stereo wiring. I am very glad I got the heater fan working, that was a mission, as I had to clear out my shed to get another!

The car itself is good. It pulls well, sounds great* and well it goes very well.

The main problems with the car from a drivers perspective is the now getting bloody ridiculously dangerous steering, cos the self taper has stripped is non existant threads. Also its been lowered to much. It spoils the ride, it hops everywhere and coupled with the loose steerign its not nice to drive.

The brakes however are very good, the tyres are the main let down.

The wheels are 16's which should be binned in favour of the original 15 inch wheels. The 16's look nice but the 15's ride better and handle better on uk roads, great on a nice track though.

*it sounds great because its a clio, this means the induction kit mounts directly to the throttle body, so you don't have the 19's air trunking siliencign matters. Also this means you get to hear the incredibly irritating whine/whistle when the 2nd throttle plate takes over, its ok if booted or its kept below the 2nd plates opening point.

The exhaust, its a silenced decat scorpion apparently. It could be fixed a tad better but theres no leaks and it sounds good. Its not overly loud which is a mega bonus. When cruising etc its silent, like the standard set up.

Its really a case where the inlet and exhaust have been sorted so it just needs to be left alone now!

Not worth doing any more to then? Just as well cos I don't want the Clio to distract me away from the plans I've laid down for the 19!

Would it be possible to explain the function of the 2nd throttle plate! Interested to know!

Also what power to you reckon it's putting out Chris? Assuming the aftermarket exhaust is a full system (according to the original eBay ad it is) plus the K&N is 145bhp out of the question in ideal conditions? Or is 140bhp a more reasonable and likely estimate?

2nd plate is there to make the car driveable at low rpm's.

Yes full system from the downpipe back.

TBH power wise I would say about standard. But according to the now working temp display its 21 degrees outside, so if it was 0 degrees outside it would probably gain about 5 or so bhp anyway.

Power figures mean feck all Ben you shoudl knwo that.

I think you will be more than happy and a little scared about the power.

BTW when are you coming up? On the friday like Chet etc is?

What sort of cars can I expect to beat then in the Valver? I know it sounds like a typically newbie question but it's not something I ever thought I'd need to know!

Well some tool in an escy cosworth thought he could pull away from the lights on the dual carriageway down the road from me in it, well I won to the roundabout.

However he did win the award for the loudest dump valve ever and my ear still hurts.

Its quicker than mine in 1st, 2nd not so much.

Good strong engine and its a 7krpm limit like it should be, the rev counter is accurate as well. Peopel who say 7200 rpm are basically daft and/or lying.

Main problem with the car I feel is the wheels and the lowered suspension make it unsuitable for any sort of progress unless its straight and smooth!

Its on the bumpstops as you know.

Yup, my XRD with all its electric trickery reading from the ECU is lying about a 7200rpm limit, go figure!

yes chet you have a magical 16V. or maybe it sjust every car in scotland has only the 7krpm limiter.

ive never hit the limiter in my car, only saw the rev counter frm the passenger seat, so thats why i mis read it and thought it was 7200,
now i know it was 7k so im happier now
