am I right in thinking that someone around here got one of these awhile back? - what's it like?

I'm thinking about this one - quite fancy the idea of 150bhp to play about with, ok so chris will do doubt say it won't be as quick as a valver but they are pretty hard to come by in decent nick anyway, opinions please, price is reasonable for a P-reg i think compared to the Golf GTI which is the same engine, reasonable mileage too:

that quick are they?

Seem slow to me when I drove em.

Thats not much quicker than yours really mate, 1/2 seconds, nothing in it really.

Still nice easy job to drop in the 1.8 20V turbo lump.

had the work laguna 1.8 16v home with me for the evening last week, I do quite like it, seems a bit slow below 3k but pulls a lot better than mine above that, much nicer on the motorway than mine, but feels a bit soft on the twisty stuff.
Quite fancy one of those though, prob the 2.0 16v, trouble is the 16vs are quite expensive still.
There was a T-reg V6 on autotrader last week with 41k (i suspect a missprint though) for 2 grand which was tempting.

The lag's are nice and they do handle, but!!!

The prob is laguna's are relatively heavy and the shockers ain't up to the job. When new ones are fitted all round along with drop links etc they handle very well, tyres are also another factor.

You have seen/been in my sisters laguna, she got that for 800 and its a nice car, much quicker and smoother since you last saw it as well! Gearlinkage needs looked at again though!

They are very good for high speed motorway work, extremely stable.

The V6's ar enice, have th etalkign comp and so on whilst good on the motorway not much cop in the twistes the 4cyl versions are better, weights th eobvious reason. The V6 is also more expensive and goes wrong, I have had to fix a few with dodgy loom sections, no biggie but annoying.
