Hi All

I set the valve clearances on my 1.6 8v megane last night... its as quiet as a mouse 0.102mm for inlet and 0.287 for exhaust Very Happy Very Happy ....
BUT

the car seems to struggle to idle now Crying or Very sad ... i ordered my new gasket for the throttle butterfly assembly yesterday, picking it up at lunch, going to clean that out tonight, hopefully this should fix it..... do you think it the gaps were adjusted slightly tight that it would make the car idle incorrectly.

Thanks for your help.

yes tight gaps make them idle un-evenly.

But if the roacker cover gasket cracked (assuimg paper effort not the steel one) then air will be let it and drawn into the inlet which will mess up the idle, same as leaving the small breather unplugged.

But clean the TB etc out and then see what happens before doing the valves again.

i replaced the rocker cover gasket with a new one... old one was a b*****d to remove... ended up leaving a nice trail of blood from the slice i got from the blade..

going to clean out the TB tonight... see what happens Smile
