Another thread here about a Rover 214 reminded me of this little in-car video which I think demonstrates the decent amount of poke in a 1.4 litre Rover K series engine. The engine in the car in this clip is a 95bhp single point injection twincam 16v version, but there is a 103bhp multipoint injection version also which replaced it after 1992 I believe.

right click, save as - 3.2megs

pokey enough, about the same as my old 19.

The engines great though, the MPI in the metro is cracking.

That reminds me of a clip I got. I've never posted it because a) it's a pointless clip, and b) my camera takes MASSIVE videos and the biggest file I'm allowed to upload to my webspace thing is 2Mb, which is crap! Well I've just found some free video convertor / compressor thing and managed to get the clip down to below 2Mb but of course now it looks shite, and has the name of the converting software plastered all over it. Ah well.

Some 'rude boy' in a clio was annoying me, so I wedged me camera in the gap between the headrest & seat on the passenger side and then attempted to dispose of him. I know it's stupid but he was driving like a twat, throwing sweet wrappers & fags & seemingly anything he could find in his car (including a bannanna skin!), out of the window at me....like what's the fuckin point. So yeah, car infront of us both slowed right to a stop to turn right at a junction and then it was just me & the clio, clear road, whoever has the best acceleration wins. Was surprised at how well he started off actually, I was in 2nd, but maybe should've been in 1st. Dunno. But once the rev monster got goin there was no chance Laughing

Sounds great Simon, but I can't seem to play the file. What codec did you use?

God damn! Um...er.......XviD MPEG-4 Codec it says. It's the only one that'll let me get the bastard file small enough. It plays in media player in my computer so would've thought it would be okay for you guys. Bugger. Anyone know where I can upload a file bigger than 2Mb? And what codec should I use?

Well I thought I had XViD installed already but just in case I downloaded and installed it again from here: http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/
Still no joy, I get an error message that "one or more codecs required to play the file could not be found" in media player.

If I try to look at the properties of the file it says not available.

I think maybe something might have got corrupted during the encoding process. Did it play back ok for you on your machine?

By the way, VirtualDub is very good free video editing and converting software that can use different codecs.

While you're sorting that out, here's a couple of clips of the famous Reyland Metro which has a Rover 1.8 VVC K series engine in it:

Ok, just used a download manager now and it worked. Fking great car - is that a standard 19 16v? Wow!

You should really encode it with something else though that doesn't put crap on the screen. DivX just puts a logo in the corner at the beginning and in fact I think it is only the player that puts it there, not the encoder.
Or in fact you could use MS WMV9 which is free and works very well too with no screen clutter.

If you go to www.putfile.com you can store up to a 10meg video there so if there's any more to the video I'd like to see it!

Well it's a standard 16v apart from an induction kit, exhaust & de-cat yeah. I didn't think the video looks that impressive to be honest! Just doesn't look that quick.

Sounds cool tho Laughing

Don't worry, it's obvious that they're private roads with simulated traffic.

Looks well quick to me. I do love the sound as well, sounds like a proper engine. As I've said to Ross before, it sounds "Italian" to me. So much more real than "dingalingdingdingding" Jap engines Very Happy

Maybe it's my pininfarina badge on the dashboard making it sound italian lol. But yeah, now you mention it, it does actually!
