 Skimming after a blown HG

Well i've got a question not actually me but its more on behalve of team1916v. In holland we have problem with most of the cars after having the head skimmed after a blown HG that within a few 100 miles the big end bearings die. Do you guys ever experience that or do you always (standard) replace them??

ive never heard of that being a problem at all. How many cars has this happened to? could just be a coincidence?

I had mine skimmed by 0.012", about 0.3mm, which is quite a large skim and its done 10000 miles since that, no problems at all.

That's what we all thought in the beginning until quite a lot of them had the same problem.

I've never heard of any car having any issues with bottom end bearings after suffering head gasket failures. Something like that tends to be caused by a mixture of neglect and serious abuse over the lifespan of the engine. How long were these vehicles driven around for before HGF was diagnosed? The top picture looks like the crank is showing signs of scoring which is never good. Could oil starvation be an issue here rather than component failure?

Did you change the oil after head gasket replacement cos it only take a bit of water in the oil to knacker your engine ?

Well i'll be honest this was a track engine that has broke down because of the bearing gone and after 2 rounds of driving it after that it locked and it kicked the engine to pieces. but it's more or less to emphasise the point.
The actual question is should you take the extra care of changing the big end bearings when doing the HG or not?

In that case, i'd say no need - the bottom end shouldn't be effected unless you continue to run it on the emulsified oil and give it death in every gear.

no need to change any bearings unless theres clear wear.

No matter how much you skim the head it won't have any affect on the big ends.

Of course skimmingit so much the engineturns into a diesel is going to strain things.
