and car not starting. It was working fine WITH this NEW battery, all i done was got a new battery and took off them stupid renault screw connector and I am using halford type connectors.

When I just touched the battery connections to the new battery it was starting etc fine, as soon as I tried to put the battery into the car and connect the terminals etc - It will not start (its trying to VERY slowly)

I have just noticed that SMOKE is coming from the battery terminals - I would of thought its the battery faulty but it was working fine 2 days ago?!?

Please help and sorry about all the questions - I have no clue with cars and am just trying to get the car started.

starter might be shorting out, I can tell you thats not fun.

In georges old white hatch we were joining the motorway and the electrics died and smoke was pissing out the battery, the terminal ont erh battery had rotated and was shorting out against the body.
