The never ending saga of my Megan 1.9D goes on.
I am still to have the problem with the noisy injector pump resolved!!
The mechanic, and I use the word lightly, took the car away and changed the advance valve in the pump. This did not cure the problem. I now find after taking the car to another garage, the bearings in the injector pump are shagged and have put metal filings into my fuel filter, injectors, and hence into my engine. The new mechanic tells me the pump, injectors and possibly the engine are now goosed.
I find this hard to understand as the car has only driven no more than 40 miles since the original immobilisor problem.
The car actually starts and runs!! it sounds funny tho. The revs are noisy then quiet. Could this be the injectors being blocked??
I am totally at a loss now Rolling Eyes

get the injectors checked and tested, You will also probably need a new pump and the lines etc flushed if theres metal filings in there.

Its a pity its happened to you but someone has to get the lemons!

Thanks for the quick reply.
I am not balaming the car Chris. It's been a workhorse. The mechanic tho is a different kettle of fish!!
Would there be any damage done to the engine by the metal filings?? and do you have an explantion for the rev tones.

if the filings got into the engine then yes there could be extensive damage.

Revs fluctuating may be due to a duff pump.

On a diesel its not throttle, fuel injected is what dictates the engine speed, not air like a petrol car.
