Giving it lead foot till the valves bounce, the Bl**dy speedo dies, driving with the Mrs's no prob.(slow down, that's far too fast. You nearly killed that cyclist. etc.) Any idea?...Gets a bit sad when you see a bl**dy speed camera and slow down to ...30...25.... 5....who knows what your doing!....Milk float flashed me and tried to overtake at the last camera!

If you really really need to know your speed, change up into 5th. Then for every 1k rpm in 5th is 20mph. So for 30mph limit you need to be doing 1.5k rpm! Wink lol my GTS-X didn’t have a speedo, as well as a lot of things. Take the dash out, cable may be repairable. If it has wound round itself its goosed, and if you have a digi dash you will need to get the one from Renault with the electrical sender cable and its about £80.

In a similar vein...

Can someone have a look at their 19 and tell me, with the car switched off, where do all the needles sit at rest? I took mine apart you see.

Ive been told that the speedo one should sit at about 5 mph (middle of the L shaped bit), and want to double check. Dont want to be speeding even if i dont intend to Smile

Also temp and oil ones, do they both start from zero?

Yes they should all start at zero if memory serves me, although the speedo should lay at the bottom it all depends on how idiotic the person was when connecting the cable back up. Some over read a hell of a lot

speedo needle shoudl be in the L, near the top.

Easiest way to check is in 5th it shoudl be doing 20mph at 1krpm so at 60 it will be reading about 3krpm.

As for the other needles, whereever they like, they are all different.
