Trying to get the speedo cable out of the box. Fed it WD40 for a week or so and it still wont budge. Gripped with mole grips, two hands, pulling like hell and still nothing. Am I missing somthing?

Cheers

Plastic tag. I think you need a little bit of faith to own a Renault Razz Somone suggested a slide hammer, dont think that will work though.

I assume both tags are there?

If so squeeze them together and rotate the clip.

This should help free it up. Then it should pop out.

The black plastic tag bit is seperate to the cable, if yours is knackered I can get you a part no and price for a new one.

Bastid cable! It's come out the box but its soft of snapped the very end of the metal housing off and left it in the hole inside that white plastic cup....contemplating chopping of the appropriate length off the new cable and trying that... Also, managed to smack myself in the eye with a bit of plastic trying to feed the cable about :S

the design is very good. Look at other cars and their rubber bung etc.

This has happened to both of my cars now, and Chris H's, surely is a minor design fault? Incidently the technical note for it in dialogys recomends using a special compound when refitting the cable to stop it corroding in place, yet no mention is made of whether it was done in the production of the car.

grease is applied to prevent it siezinf in. Some cars have it greased others dont.

Its not a design fault like I already said.

If thats the case then any engine is a design fault.

i think the design is quite good, you should see some of the speedo set ups on some cars.

I think the design is quite good. The bit that siezes in is about 1 inch long and has an O-ring on it.

In theory if the plastic tags snap the cable can still be removed as long as its not seized. The plastic bits are replaceable and cheap.
