how does the feckin thing work ,mine on the chamade decided not to for the last couple days , the plastic securing clip was broken on the ins. panel end and i thought that came loose by driving and took the instrument panel out to superglue the speedo socket to the ins. panel but before doing it i tried it with duck tape to make sure it will work after i put everything back on .

not working still ,am i missing something ?????
how does that speedo thing run the spedometer ???? ther are no electrical connections just a tiny bit of plastic in the middle , does it turn ?????

bit in ther middle spins. make sures its connected properly at the gearbox.

its driven off a plastic gear in the box which can go arse up.

aye so it spins .

thats what i thought and let this socket end out and visible to me while driving to see if it does spin or not. it did not

than i fiddled with the gear box end but that was not loose at all ,even tried to get the fecker out buit no way

now is there a possibility that the cable might be stuck behind/under something so that the operation is affected or would it still keep spinning whatever the obstruction is ?

if the cables jammed then it will have stripped the gear in the gearbox.

so you reckon its not jammed .
i am trying to pull the cable from the ins. panel end but its not moving at all . so i reckon its jammed somewhere .

also the rev counter works fine if thats got anything to do with this

hang on, what exactly are you pulling? ther middle bit? if so then thats how to fuck it up.

gearbox end, pull the tags if they are not there see if you can rotate the cable in the box, if not then its stuck in there and will need broken to remove.

no i was pulling the tags ,then cable is in the midle of them .
but never managed to get it out . i could not do this on my other car either.

still no joy getting the feckin cable of the gearbox end . i am squeezing the tags like hell but no play at all . is there a spring as well ??? as mentioned in haynes??

not a spring sory,it says a clip

"speedometer cable retaining clip in the rear egine mounting bracket"

if you have th eplastice bit then you have no metal clip

managed to get the plastic thing out after 3hours chris ,what else is holding that feckin that cable now . i wiggled the cable with pliers and all but no feckin way its coming out without a fight .

left it for tomorrow now ,

new speedo cable ?/? is that a renault only part ?????????
