 spongy brakes

1.8 16v clio- Ive tried bleeding them but I still have a bit of travel before I get any brake action, say about 1.5".

Would this be just the old fluid, do I need to flush it all through?

I didnt get any air from the system, just the old brown fluid.

If you bled the brakes and got no air out, then the chances are there wasnt any in there.


Check your disks, seems like you may have run-out on one or more disk. When this happens it pushes the pads away more and therefore takes more pressure and travel to apply.

the bias valve is trapping air.

You need to do it in a pit or use axle stands on the rear hubs with the wheels off.

Ok cheers Chris, would bleeding all the old fluid through help or would I be wating my time?
