Squeeky adjustable shocks?

Last weekend fitted some AVO adjustable rear shocks as mine were on the way out.

They were a swine because of the hub-to-strut bolt which had seized nicely, but anyway got there in the end.

Set them to 12 'clicks' (About halfway) and they wer far too hard, bouncing and jarring over any kind of imperfection in the road.

So I wound them all the way back onto the softest setting and the car rode as normal, but for really loud squeeking when the shocks compress.

Really is too loud, sounds like I have a pair of chickens in my boot with all this 'jibber-jabber' going on.

I wound them up a few clicks which made a bit of a difference, but they are still really squeeky. I pumped each shock a few times before I fitted them but doesn't seem to have helped.

Any ideas? Also does it matter which way reound they are mounted? I mean which way the dial faces. I suspect not, but they face different ways, and only one seems to be making a noise.

I have found with normal shocks you get a sort of quiet squirting noise from the back.

Its not helped when the top of the damper isn't secured strongly, tighten it as far as it will go, make sure the bottoms secured properly to.

if its really loud then send em back.

My front coilovers make an awful racket but to be fair thats understandable...
