Finished the clutch change got everything back together,go to turn the key......nothing. I can hear what I think is the fuel pump priming, but when I turn to start...theres nothing. I thought it might have been the earth, so I connected a jump lead from the block to the battery, but still nothing. Any ideas?

Cheers

check fuses then

check the leads to the starter are connected...and also check the state of the connections...undo them, clean them up with wire brush, wd40 them and back together

fuses won't do anything. The starts is always live, it just gets the solenoid feed to activate it.

The white solenoid wire has either fallen off or the wires broken or it may just need the connector squeezed with pliers.

Ands yes the other noise is the fuel pump priming.

The white solenide wire is the one that comes from the battery through the top of the bulk head and down behind the engine?

no the white solenoid wire is the one thats part of the loom and comes from the main engine cinnector on the nearside inner wing.

Its the white wire with a black plastic spade clip on it.

The thick black wire that comes from the battery through the bulkhead down the back of the engine is the starters constant positive feed.

Yup, chris H is right, it was off....can't get ir all the way back on though, will try again once the exhaust manifold has cooled. Amazing how Chris H usually knows exactly what the problem is....
