Just moved the 19 and it seems theres just over 1cm of play in the steering wheel before the wheels do anything, only just noticed this after driving the SEAT for a while. I can hear a small clunking noise from the bottom of the column, does this suggest the UJ is naffed?

What else could it be?

Cheers

How difficult did you find that? if its the UJ, changing the column wouldn't fix that? the cars done 167k so it doesnt suprise me if the column is worn.

the UJ is part of the column

i found the task pretty easy, but i did have the advantage of the engine being out at the time i changed my column over

its basicly 5 bolts, 4 inside the car under the dash and a pinch bolt type thing that connects the column to the rack
