I have just bought a superchipped ECU off ebay for my 19 16v. The seller said its from a phase I, mine is a phase II. When i instaled it today as per the instructions he provided, the engine ticks over a 2000rpm and will not drop below that. apart from that it runs sweet and feels faster and more responsive, what i am wondering is did renault change the ECU's from the phase I? or is it just a case of getting the car rolling road tuned. the car is running a cat bypass and straight through scorpion system and a K@N filter, and i have just fitted some bosch super 4 plugs. any help with this would be appreciated  cheers lads. |

aye they used a few different ones.
But first check the connections to the idle control valve, may have bumped it or theres a corroded pin from the ECU.
Also some advice, bin the super 4's and get plugs that are actually decent.
Maybe I should do a tech article on ignition and tell the truth. |

Aye them super 4's are a waste of money, i took the plugs out of my good ladys hyundai to see if there would be much difference in the ren and yup there certainly was, in sayin that i dont notice any difference in the hyundai with the 4's. |

The ECU pins are all good, and it ticks over at bang on a 1000rpm with my old ECU in , would that rule the idle control valve out? |

Super 4's are gash. My Clio 1.4 e with headwork was running crap, changed over to 'old' ngks and it was a million times, yes you read me right young sir, ONE MILLION times better..... |

i got a set of brand new NGKs for mine for £6 to replace the Bosch ones that were in there.
Strangely, the NGK website and suppliers list different plugs for the 19 16v than they do for the clio 16v. Anyone know why that might be?
I took a risk and fitted clio 16v plugs in my 19 16v |

19 ones are obviously better, obviously, of course 
I used super 4's in my clio 1.4 an felt they made a difference altho tbh i changed them at the same time as i serviced it |

i talked to superchips today and they said it wont work properly, but my local supperchip supplier said the piggyback its attached to is the expensive part. he can supply and program a new chip and fit it to my ECU with the old piggyback for £75 and it will be spot on then so in total it will have cost me £135, not sure how good a price that is really. although the supperchips site prices them at £285 so its a bargain really. well thats what i am telling the wife  |

difference between the clio 16V/Willy plugs and the 19 16V plugs is the clio plug has 2 earth electrodes and the 19 has 3. The clios are better.
but not as good as single electrode efforts. |

Are the double and twin electrodes the same as the supid super fours as in the spark arcs to the closest one? |

thats life.
I will be using the single electrode plugs I used to run in the old 16V.
Not telling what they are, I had to find out which ones to use for myself. They are NGK racing plugs though, only available seperately. |
