Hey guys,

Whats the score with handling and lowering?

Id like to lower the car slightly.........not OTT maybe 30mm. Where can you get the spings for a 4 door mk1 clio?

Also whats the best things to do to improve handling without spending alot of money. There must be something to do without going for coil overs.

Check out www.needforspeed.co.uk, they cater for most cars.

I'd imagine fitting Clio 16V shocks would make an improvement, as long as they fit of course, but I can't see why they wouldn't unless you've got mahoosive alloy wheels fitted.

what springs would the clio need off that site then? ive not started to work the car yet so i dont know much about them. Im guessing slightly shorter higher lb-age springs would make it stiffer reducing body roll but im pretty sure that wont do anything for handling.

Is there any front roll bar that can be changed, as im sure that will make it handle better, is there any difference in the RSi or williams on?

make sure the ball joints and bushes are in good nick. often they are not.

What wheels does it have and what tyres are on it?

I'll replace the bushes and stuff while the fronts up in the air.

Wheels are standard steelies at the moment, but id like to go for something suttle if funds allow. Maybe 15" alloys, as to width or tyres im not sure.

I know tyres will effect it alot.

get complete wishbones from GSF, about 25 quid each side, new bushes and balljoints are included.

15's and decent tyres like toyo's will transform the car.

I'd leave the suspension until you sort that stuff out.

If you wanna upgrade then I would just get 16V stuff on there.

Defo on the tyre front. Would recomend toyo t1-s as I have just fitted them to the 19 and the difference is unreal!

Also you may want to concider unoroyal rainsports as I had them on my last car and they will just blow ur mind, not a good as the toyos in the dry but you'll struggle to find any difference between the wet/dry handling.
