 taking the engine out

well me and my mate got the engine out last sunday it took us 2 hrs yep 2hrs not bad that, still we've had a bit of practice Very Happy and I took some piccys so here they are just click on the links.

this is what happens when the ehgine hoist breaks Rolling Eyes still managed to get the engine on the bench in the end. grand total of 2 1/4 hrs when I finally shut the garage door pretty good huh Question

that a valver engine in a 5? i usually see it the other way round r5 engine in the clio! what ya doing with the engine now its out the car?

yep r19 16v engine in a 5, and this engine needs a rebuild so got another engine coming monday, I think its a better engine than the turbo but thats just my opinion. Very Happy

i love reading through all the projects on this site all good stuff! ive always said if i had the time/money/space/knowledge/ability to do it, i'd have my own project car Smile

I know what you mean but you don't need money or knowledge just space time and an ability to learn, thats all any of us have. nearly all of the mechanical parts used on my car are second hand the alloys are the engine is etc... only suspension and breaks are new from the mechanical side.

space is the main issue, we have a driveway which can hold 2 cars, we already have 3 cars now my sister wants a car too plus i have a works van! doh!

alright, I should have said you don't need bundels of money as my car has been built on a shoe string, especially when you consider that some people will spend more on an engine than the total I have spent on my car and that includes buying it. And no I'm not exagerating I know of people that have run sodemo engines and sequetial gearbox's in hillclimb clio's, so when you add those 2 items together you are getting close to 15 grand no joke. my conversion has cost about a 5th of that, but it has taken time. Wink

right well the new engine is nearley built ie plubing wirring clutch etc give it another day and the hole thing should be ready to go in so I guess thats about 2 days work Very Happy
