 Tech conversation - two stroke engine vs. four stroke

I just want to see what your opinions are...

If the petrol wasn't a problem, would conventional engines stayed 2 stroke, or at least racing ones?

And does it have any future, or the days of 2s are over?

Just for the sake of conversation...

i love 2strokes the smell, noise acceleration 2stroke is the way forward for power from small cc's petrol is the downside for sure for everyday living with, Laughing no chance 19's are bad enough imagine it begin 2stroke lol rebuilds every weekend i see it now engine out time Rolling Eyes ..... Evil or Very Mad

No, torque is needed for a car of todays size.
reliability is neded for the public, maintainence muct be kept a low as possible for todays world of complete idiots.

2strokes give a power stroke every revolution, 4stroke every other revolution....so they produce more torque for a given displacement. The problem with them is they hold a high percentage of burnt residual gas in the chamber after combustion...since they rely heavily on scavenge effect for induction. This is why they are typically used in small applications....
They also have high oil consumption=HC emmisions.
