probably just the diff circlip... take a circlip and thrust washer along with you, pay him, fix it there in front of him, and drive it away Smile

what does that matter?

Also as the new keeper it won't cost anything, only if you have the V5 in your name then lose it do you need to pay up.

I have bought plenty of cars with no v5 including the white chammy and i got the v5 through the other day

No but surely it's an ownership thing? If I take a car off someone telling me it's his but without the V5 to prove then I could lose the car?

thats quite true ben ,in fact i came across to such thing and dig everything out about this . according to dvla ,v5 is not a proof of ownership ,its just makes the the registered keeper of the vehicle . but a receipt will make you the legal owner of it .

but than if some ferker will come and claim the ownership of the car one day ,he will have to produce a receipt plus he will have to go to court .
i dont think anyone would do this for a 150quid car Wink
