Got pulled over by traffic branch the other night at 11.50pm.
It was the first time in 5 or so years (I used to get pulled over fortnightly at one stage).

Was treated with a bit of respect this time (and returned some too!).

Basicly got fined £30 for having sidelights + fogs on. doh!

Also got a 'Vehicle Rectification Notice' too. So this means that I had to fix my back number plate light (whoo pee doo) and take the tint off the driver and passenger windows. The car also had to be produced at the police station within 14 days with this done.

The guy didn't have the window tint tester with him, so I asked him could he go and get it. So 1/2 hour later he came back and tested the windows. It came up as 78% tint. 35% is the maximum so that was that then.

I only realised later that he tested the amount of light travelling out though the windows (what other people can see), rather than the light coming in (what I can see). I wasn't pleased about this, but upon checking the relevant legislation, it does not make a distinction on what way the light should pass.

Never mind.

To be fair to the guy he was a decent bloke, quite official, but reasonable none the less. He was more than willing to get the tint tester so that I could see how it worked. He even let me take a photo of it too.

For being traffic branch, he was a good copper (if such a thing exists).

he has to test fromt he inside as the outside reflects, so even a 1% tint could come back as 10% fromt eh outside!
