Remember to get the timing belt changed (by the dealer) and the clocks converted to MPH, and the speedo sender converted to MPH and the speed limiter taken off.

That should be about it.

Tip: if it rains do not drive fast around corners unless you are the DK. Seriously, take it easy for a few months, until you re-learn how to drive.

We're gone KM down here now so thats not gonna be a problem. I hear the limiter should be set at 180km/hr so I might leave that too for my own good.

I am a bit worried about the mid engine rwd setup in the rain alright but I guess if I take it easy there should be no problems.

Is it? From what I had read it was 180km but that could be old now. 112kmh is just silly.

its 112 kmh which is 70 mph which is what its limited to.

The uk conversion to mph means its limited to mph not kmh its then 112mph

It's 112mph. See Link

There are two ways of doing the conversion. One (the cheaper way) is to send the ECU mph signals instead of kmh. However this has the undesired effect of making the steering really light at speed, as it is speed sensitive.
The other way is more expensive, and does not have this side effect.

In the dry these cars are magic, but in the wet they will bite. Be careful.

Did you look at that white one this morning?

Thats the one I heard of and didn't like the sound of. I could live with a 112mph limit tho' Rarely go higher than that.

I didn't get a chance to look at the white one this morning. Wouldn't have made it there and back in time to be in work before lunch. I'm gonna go look at it on Saturday. Looking at this one in the morning, its on my way to work Very Happy

I wouldn't call the MR2 a haridressers car, maybe the newer version.

The 200sx I drove might have been down alot on power but it didn't seem fast at all. I might try another few before I make up my mind.

The MR2 wins hands down on novelty factor tho being a mid-engined 2 seater.

i knew someone who had a mr2 turbo roughly same age as your getting,it had 400 bhp it was also on a magazine called bonzai a few years ago,and he said it was very unstable epecially in the wet,but in a straight line it was very quick.he sold that for a audi s3.just going with someone who had an mr2 turbo, but if thats want your wanting then go for it

I wouldn't call them hairdresser's cars either...maybe the new shape, a little the MK2, but the MK1 is definately not.

its a gift and a curse my friend, a gift and a curse.

TBH I am not to clued up on them, but often the positioning of them leads to water ingress which corrodes wires and connectors, easy repair normally.

Well I'm going back mondy morning and I will check that the light comes on and goes off with the air conditioning. If so I might even buy it if I get him down a bit more. It was by far the nicest one I've drove so far.
