Yeah, I'd love to know what it'd cost. Probably a few thousand like evismaniac said..........so the the decision would then be.........do you spend that few thousand on a new car, or do you do this conversion to your existing one? Hmmmm

I dunno if there are any cars that you could buy for a few thousand that'd be better than an R19 with about 200bhp lol Razz

Insurance would be fun tho. "Hi, yeah......Um.....I've just increased the power of my car by rather a lot" ......... *phone goes dead* .....doh

sorry, i left home friday afternoon to meet up with someone the weekendt!

did anyone go today? not a bad day, no rain too which was a bonus!

as for the car, depends what u want really, i had a 280bhp scooby a couple of cars ago, and this is MUCH more fun, especially slaying the scoobies! (well up to about 300bhp ish anyway) The look on their faces when u come past is a picture worth framing!!

i raraly use the car tho, its for fun, track days and 1/4 miling rather than an everyday car! altho believe it or not its suprisingly normal(ish) to drive around town. Other than manual steering conversion is a bit of extra work, but its not bad when u get used to it!

All I know is it had 6.5K spent on the engine. I went passed his house today coming back from the RWS event.

i think the 6.5k figure is what it 'should' be worth, due to the amount of time spent on the engine (labour costs), and the amount of custom bits, not the actual real cost of the work. looking at half that really, as ben gave huge discounts on stuff, especially labour costs, as he spend a 'lot' of time on it!

to be honest its not 'that' spec'd up! Williams F7R bottom end, magane head, loads of headwork, AWT 280 cams, pace custom rad, AWT inlet manifold, 16v exhaust manifold, jenvey boddies, omex, williams box, 5gtt uprated clutch, shortshift, manual steering conversion, williams track, coilovers, carbon bonnet!

Currently 216bhp and 170lbs torque, but there is another 20+ BHP in there yet with pistons, steel crank, wilder cams, and 8k rev limit! Twisted Evil

just need some cash lol! wished id not gone away on hols now, spend nearly a grand on a wank holiday!!!! grrrr!

mine will be finnished soon aswell...just waiting on pistons

spec:

F7R
bigvalve head head
hi-spec cams
catcams pulleys
High CR pistons
Jenvey 45mm T.B's
Emerald ECU

with all that extra work Craig (it is Craig isnt it?! same as me!!) ie pistons crank etc, u should see more than 20bhp, and u could go more than 8k rpm.

the crapness of the boxes is sickening, considering the old boxes were used by lotus in turbo esprits and they are also used on a lot of 3/400bhp V8 kit cars!

No need for steel crank, just some balancing and some forged pistons so that i cant net the required piston/valve clearance......the cams are basically dialed in so they wont touch the piston when your bouncing off the limiter. So not much work required at all.
