when i bought my 19 16v last week there was a rubber mat on the rocker cover. me being the tool i am i ripped it off (i now know what its for lol) after the heavy rain last night i went to drive it this morning, but it was only firing on2 cylinders so i had the fun of sucking the water out of the wells with a mc donalds straw! oh joy! Very Happy Embarassed

I have mine with sheet steel, used to be clips that kept workign loose so I cut slots in it and fitted jubilee clips.

its tubular. You can drill it if you want but it will weaken it and make it more flexy (yeah, big deal). But why would you want to do that? its easier to just use clips anyway isnt it?
