nope, the pedal box, tbh it could be down with the dash in place but be very tricky as the plug etc needs to run under the carpet.

well today I patched up the loom with tape to make it pretty again.

I also cleaned the gearbox, much better now.

all I need to do now is blats the water jacket clear, put the new core plug in, put the clutch on, mate the box back to the engine sort out the studs for the exhaust manifold and drop it all back in.

starter etc fitted

[img:567:378:6a69e7c81d]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/scrappy%20manifold%20on%2001.jpg[/img:6a69e7c81d]

manifold on, all i need is the cambelt and the front mount

[img:567:378:6a69e7c81d]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/scrappy%20manifold%20on%2002.jpg[/img:6a69e7c81d]

well yesterday I fitted the mount etc.

I had to get 1 nut on the old mount very bloody hot to get it off, you can see the thread damage on the old mount, here it is alongside the new one.

[img:567:378:a5280a3131]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/scrappy%20new%20front%20mount.jpg[/img:a5280a3131]

with that fitted I removed the crank pulley for the aux belt, then took the cambelt etc off. I couldn't get he crank cmabelt pulley off, I will though as I want to get it perfect.

[img:567:378:a5280a3131]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/scrappy%20crank%20pulley%2001.jpg[/img:a5280a3131]

Due to the fact it looks like the pumps leaked or been replaced or something I thought I would pop it off to clear out the gunge that was bound to be behind it.

I wasn't wrong

[img:567:378:a5280a3131]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/scrappy%20water%20pump%20off%2001.jpg[/img:a5280a3131]

that was all put there after I cleaned the water jacket out, I will blast it all through again.

engines in, it started first turn of the key as expected.

I am hunting for a strut to hub bolt as I snapped 1.

need to fit the water pump, fill the box with oil, fit the strut bolt when I find one then all I need is rear calipers!

Pressure sensor still doesn't work, it stirs then dies.

Today i refitted the cooling system and had to remove water from the plug wells

[img:567:378:c6e6af174f]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/scrappy%20coolant%20etc%20back%20in.jpg[/img:c6e6af174f]

A massive thanks to chet for the oil pressure sender which works and the exhaust man gasket, my cousin Jamie (jrzone) for all his help, Doc for the clutch and being all round good guy, Neal for being an arse and my motivation to kill etc etc

today I received my parcel from stromba, in it were 2 16V front girlings and carriers and a rear offside caliper.

Fronts are going onto the red car with the meganes old RSi carriers. I needed one of the carriers to put on the front nearside of this car though as I had to use it on ambers megane. So its now got both front drilled discs on it.

The car still doesn't have a battery as such, its currently got the battery that came with the clio. This was 5 volts when I got it, with toppign up and chargign at max rating it has now gone up to 12 volts, the more it gets charged the better its gettign it even started the thing today. Its not good enough though. So I will maybe pop it back in the less leccy hunrgy clio or even the red car. The clio has my big battery in it which is going back into my chammy.

Anyway I starte don the rear caliper. These are terrible, utter shite they really are.

This is what was left of the handbrake cable, its still there so thats good, normally its banged out and the caliper gets cracked.

[img:567:378:eed0ebe148]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/hatch%20caliper%2001.jpg[/img:eed0ebe148]

the blow torch and some carefull tapping got it out without damage.

this pic shows the bleed nipple left and the feed pipe.

[img:567:378:eed0ebe148]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/hatch%20caliper%2002.jpg[/img:eed0ebe148]

Both were very clogged up, cleaned them off and blowtorch etc. Eventually the feed pipe union gave and unscrewed.

I then spent ages on the bleed nipple but it snapped anyway. Bollocks.

I have drilled it out in 0.5mm increments to the threads, trouble is I can't seem to pick any more thread out. So I left iot for today.

So no it still can't fooking drive. Engine is lovely to. Although I have a bloody oil leak from the sump plug! Not impressed.

I also fitted 16V steelies to the back, I got one from Dan's old man yesterday. Pumped it up, 2 hr's later it was fglat. So went to my tyre man and got a new valve and rim sealed for free.

Stuck it back on and it seems fine, will see tomorrow.

Heres a pic of it with Dans steelie on it
