how hard is it to change, and would it be better to change both mounts at the same time

depends on what you class as hard and how buggered it is.

sometimes they come apart easy, other times you need to get new everything.

getting the strut out will be easy. it the mount and is it worth changing anything else when the strut is out and should i do the other side.

never said it won;t come out easy, i said they won;t come apart. I have gad to drill through a few damper pistons to get good top mounts.

Might as well do both.

do the bearings as well.

Theres also a chance the upper spring cups will be corroded and need replaced as well.

top mounts are pretty expensive OEM, dunno what you can get them for aftermarket in the UK.. i've taken a few struts apart, never had any issues..used an "air propelled wrench" (dont know what they're called in english) to get the damper nut off, works a charm...

chris, if the thing's so corroded it needs drilling out, won't the mount be in such a bad shape, it isn't useable anyway?

top mounts survive pretty well as a lot have been changed, the dampers on the other hand don't.

A very common issue with them now is the lower spring seat, most are holed pretty badly and ready to collapse.
