 track rod ends

hi guys. in the process of doing the track rod ends. i am stuck because i cant get the bit out of the hub. i have been using a ball joint slitter but it isnt doing any thing.

its a 1.4 19 117000 on the clock. they are the original parts aswell

please help

I take it you're using a wedge type splitter? Would be better off the with the clamp type.

Anyway just put the nut on the end and smack it with a hammer

pannic over people. i went out and got the clamp type ball joint breaker worked a treat. took half a day to do one and the other side in 5 mins. just got to get the tracking done now

I'm trying to do mine, the bit in the hub on mine just rotates in the trackrod with the nut still attached, sods law eh?

use a trolley jack under it huw.

This always happens to me. Even after i have jacked it up far enough to be supporting almost the whole weight of the car on it, it still manages to spin. I try to wind the nut back down but still it spins so i end up hacksawing the nut off... Mad

simpel solution, wire brush the thread first, wd-40 or rost off ice then undo it, if it spins jack it. Continues to spin then crack otu the griner, not the hacksaw, thats a womans tool.
