Saw a number of these on the way to milton keynes yesterday and think I might have been had by one next to a load of bushes. On http://www.ukspeedcameras.co.uk They reckon their only forward facing as in pointing towards you. I would have thought that the camera would have been on the same side of the road as me, but it wasn't.

Anyone know anymore about these things?

Cheers

they can be on either side.

i had a lucky escape a while back... on motorway doing about 85/90 round a bend, outside lane, and suddenly round this bend, bridge, camera van staring straight at me!!

Feck i think, no time to slow, hes got me for sure, sigh.

Drive under bridge chking in my mirrors i see the van reversing off the bridge!! i think he must have just been packing up to go...this was about 4 weeks ago, no letter so looks like i was lucky

Jammy or what!Very Happy

up here if you don;t go to court even for speeding offence its warrant issued taken into custody. Same has happened to me a few times.

The apparently sent out summosn to me but I never got them then they said we sent it, I said wrong address and they told me I was making my address up! Tossers.

Neo fight it mate. I got one and just never bothered at all doing anything and I was let off.

Is the A14 a m'way/duel carriageway or single national limit carriageway. If its a single carriageway at that speed then it'll be a ban matey.

if theyve got video evidence then hes got no choice, but if its only the laser gun, then he can fight it as they are known for errors.

dual carriageway is the A14 at the point where i was snapped.

caught on a LTI 20.20 Speedscope Lastec Video System

i will be fighting it, these guns have to be set up in a certain way and if it is not then it is considered inaccurate, they can not just be parked up and let loose, they have to carry out a calibration test of the camera in the site they are using it, so i will be asking for the video evidence and calibration certificates for the device.

in a recent court case in america, a case was thrown out of court that involved the use of this very laser system as when the defence picked one up and pointed it at a wall in the courtroom, the wall registered a speed of 4mph . . .

whats the story with unmarked video cars.

maybe an issuer with one parked on a motorway bridge, side on tinted windows but them all up. 1 occupant, might have been apparatus on the passenger seat pointing on the motorway towards the car.

I don;t think they can do anything like this.

any vehicle used for speed traps in that situation has to be marked, but there is a loophole as to how large those markings have to be so it may be a small logo on the door that oooo u cant spot 200 yards away 30ft below the bridge where the doors are obscured by the railings on the bridge.

totally unmarked video cars can only be used whilst driving as far as i know, eg, one can follow u and time u up a road using vascar for example but can not sit on a motorway bridge except for traffic monitoring purposes only.

also there has to be warning signs, thats why on your m8 for example there is speed camera signs but no fixed camera's, those signs are the warnings for the mobile units that sit on the bridges.

scamera vans parked up in a residential area also need to have warning signs placed ahead of them, again this can be those fixed signs u see when there are no fixed camera's on the road or they use portable signs, again there is no hard and fast rules for placement of those signs as long as they are placed hence why u usually see them literally in front of the scamera van and of course by then its too late.
The scamera van itself also has to be visable and identified (again usually by a tiny logo on the side of the van)
