Turbo Crack

Due to a bit of noise coming from the current turbo in the car (play in the shaft) i decided to do a complete overhaul replacing all bearings, seals e.t.c.

I got hold of a replacement unit to rebuild so the car could remain on the road, however, when i started to strip the unit down i discovered this.

If your not sure, the crack is on the edge of the wastegate valve.
Went and had a look at two other turbo units and exactly the same crack in exactly the same place.
So i removed the turbo from my car, and exactly the same.

Is this a serious problem?
Am i likely to find one that isn't cracked?
Should i still use the unit or not bother?

Any advice much appreciated

it weill be a hard search for one without the crack.

They all tend to go there. You can still get lucky and find an uncracked one but it will take a lot of searching.

So i may aswell go ahead with the overhaul then.
The one in the picture there is about the smallest crack i've found in any of the turbos, just have to keep my eye out for an uncracked one to swap with one day.

it boosted well etc.

yeah go ahead then if you get a non cracked exh housing bang that one.

Of no particular importance to me, but what can happen if those cracks were to get any worse? Anything serious/terminal etc?

worst that can happen is you lose power.
