I've just gone through a set of Toyo Proxies T1-R's on the front of my Cordoba, got 10k out of them and their down to the wear markers.

Im assuming this is about 'avarage' for this type of tyre.

Are there any others that will give a longer life? (Obviously at the expensive of some grip) Car spends most of the time puddling back and for work.

What is everyone else getting?

Also, when the tread is down to the wear markers is that the 1.6 legal minumum or is it a mil above?

pirellis, shite in the wet and hard like bannan skins, although you should get 100k out of them and they will be cracked like wesley snipe sin demolition man.

Anyoen else remember when they nearly went out of business in the early 80's cos the tyres never wore out?

for some reason I can recall pretty much every second of the decade, why i know not but it freaks my mum out as liek you sday I wasn't born.

The 90's I have a very poor recolection of and I did live through them.

my toyo t1-r's lasted 7k lol, but they did do 2 track days.

Tempted to go back to Avon ZV3's which were on there before. Hate buying tyres.

I,m a Bridgestone fan now.

S03,s if you can find them or Turanza.

Used to have Yokohama, but they tend to harden with age and go off very quickly.

Wear depends on how hard you drive the thing around bends. A hard tyre will last longer but give you a lot less grip.

Brigestone say that the rubber inside the tread is softer than the outside. So as the the tyre ages the performance stays the same.

Had falken's on the 17's before I crashed the 19. Not sure if theres any connection but the front end had fuk all traction and understeered me into a bump (understatement) common?!? Very Happy

yeah i had falken ze512s on my 17s when i had them on, shit in the wet they were. Can't really complain too much about them in the dry though if I'm honest.

Twice I had the rear let go when I had them on the car, granted once I was pushing it abit and it let go (quite a good feeling) but the second time was on a round-about at relativly low speed and that was not fun. Anyhoo, had a pair of T1-s fitted september last year (on front) and by MOT in december one was getting VERY close to the limit so had them fitted to the rear and ditched the falkens. Pair of Yoko A359's fitted and by may/june both were totally knackered. Hopefully now new balljoints, top mount bearings and tracking has been done again fronts should last like there supposed too.

i've done roughly 5k now on my Toyo Proxes T1-R's and they are showing very little wear at all and they are not treated lightly lol

195/50/15 on my energy 1.4.

Since I tried Bridgestone, I want nothing else:

25 K with RE720 (she was tunned up then) at very hard driving (until I blew it)

50k with S02's (which are so good - the best actually - they make your consumption rise a litter) with quite fast driving

70 K with S03's with normal driving

Back to RE720, now with the car untunned and normal driving
