I want to start refurbing the underside of the black car this weekend and I’ve been asking around regarding undersealing. The general concensus so far has been to strip back the original underseal wherever it looks suspect or damaged or there is a bit of rust, grind the area back to clean metal, then use etch primer, followed by a stonechip paint and then maybe waxoyl the area. People are saying a full coating of rubberised undershield or similar is a bad idea as it can trap moisture next to the metal and cause more problems than it solves.

Anyone got any experience to add?

i have been told the same about the rubberised seal...one little pin prick and it just leaks moisture in behind it and rots away with you knowing.

I think just a could few thick coats of some hard wearing paint.
