 Valver idling problems

Mine's a 1995 valver and recently it's been idling very poorly eg. often when i first turn it on, it will struggle to idle at 900 or just over 1000 as it should when cold and then after being in gear when i depress the clutch the revs fall very low and often it cuts out all together.

i've had the ISCV cleaned out and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with it. then we discovered that the ECU was sending a faulty/incorrect error code which was messing up fuelling etc but had that remapped, then two of the fuel pipes split and pissed fuel everywhere which may have accounted for the ECU errors as fuel pressure would have been down and air might have been getting in while it was leaking slightly.

Strangely, since i've put the viper IK on, it has improved slighty but its still happening! Can anyone shed any light on possible reasons and ways of rectifying this as im at a loss!

coolant temperature sensor. side of the head, white square connector. Probably rotted away. About £8 from GSF

oh yeah, how did you get the fuelling 'remapped'?

he says it does it while pressing the clutch ,are you sure its the CTS?

not 100%, but its a good place to start, its an idling problem.

cheers neal, i'll try that.
maybe 'remapped' was the wrong word. my mates garage cant do that sort of thing so we sent it somewhere else, dunno exactly what they did but it stopped the over-revving, i dont really understand ECUs and the way they work and they way they can be altered to be honest

whats wrong with hatfield.....its not that bad....

the same thing happened to me once ,i went to gsf after .their CTS was the perfect fit.buy it from gsf

Neal, my ex goes to the uni there, so ive driven through it a few times, it didnt look that bad but having said that i've never spent that much time there!

Student nurse, in her first year, but believe me the uniform aint nearly as sexy as i imagined it...i was convinced it was PVC and really short and tight in all the right places! but its not! not even close

Chavs and fuck all to do? sounds like most of greater london from what ive heard!

CTS is where you should start.

When you say your driving then dip the clutch and the revs slowly drop then it dies is this only when cold or all the time?

As for the remapped thing you have been misled my good man. Simply unplugging the ECU for long enough will clear all the fault codes, if the faults no longer there then it will nto be retraced.

what were the errors?

when i dip the clutch and it dies it is mostly when its cold but it sometimes happens when its warmed up as well. but it never used to do this at all, even in sub zero temps.

thats what i thought about the ECU, got the feeling i'd been mugged off a little. dunno the exact details, will have to find the paperwork to explain properly what they reckon they did.

Also is it a clio? If so going by your other post on the tailgate then the speedo cable earth may be crap. Which will affect this. the clio earthign is a bit crap.
