My 16v idle when warm and stationary sits at about 1250-1300rpm. I've tried the CTS the car came with and one I had spare (new about 3 months ago) however the problem is the same. I suspect the new one might be faulty though, seeing as I get better mpg with the old one! What else could be causing it?

Also, does 60mph @2800-2900rpm in 5th sound about right?

sounds like a lack of idle stabilisation tbh!

block the ICV pipe and the car should settle at its base rpm setting of about 900 ish rpm.

if it won't then its an air leak or someones dicked about with the throttle body.

Well, just popped out of work, started the car and it sat perfectly at 900rpm. Revved it slightly and it still sat at about 900rpm, then about 5 seconds later it started to climb to about 1300 again.

Me being the muppet I am pulled the pipe off the ICV while the enngine was runng Razz I Shall try again properly later Wink

had this sort of problems with my 1.8 rt before , took it to an auto electrician and he said he resetted the ECU to sort the problem and it ran fine for a few weeks but than occured again thus i replaced the CTS which has sorted the problem .

but u are saying it happens in warm idle ,which sounds like a lambda sensor problem Rolling Eyes

oh well ,just ignore me . may be i had too much of sun today Shocked
