any1 seen this pic yet?

was running at york, 210bhp from an ex cup engine on carbs.

its running standard ECU, to control the ignition but a 306 distributor? is it feasible to junk the fuel injection side of things, but keep the existing ECU to run the sparks?

could be a cheap way to some serious hp, dcoe manifold can be had, and twin 40's r cheap on ebay for good ones. chris u got any thoughts?

pic no work. Also am I the only one that smilies etc no longer work for?

A 306 dizzy? Hmm coil packs from new they be I say!

The ignition side, you could remove the fueling side completely. You would need to retain the TPS though, the injection cars use the TPS, engine speed and barometric pressure (maybe not that last one on these cars though, cannae mind for sure) to give the appropriate timing. The carb versions run a vacuum feed.

the ijnection set up woudl mean the ECU etc would all have to be retained but if the carbed ignition module worked ok on the smaller vacuum feed and gave a suitable advance curve then use that.

Twin 40's will limit you but they will limit you power wise unles sthe extra money is spent on the engine elsewhere.

hum... dont know if you can have the std ECU running just the ignition. Thinking... keeping the CPS the ECU will know the engine is turning so the spark will occur. Dont know if the MAP sensor reading on the valver will affect the ignition map on the ECU since using TB's or DCOE (or DHLA or whatever) is an headache for the MAP sensor. Sad

That photo. Clio engine bay is a b!tch to get TB's or DCOE's carbs since there is not alot of clearence from the radiator. The nasty inlet ports of the valver/willy makes the inlet manifold to be with long runners since they have to change shape to align with DCOE flange.

R19 has got more engine bay clearence so you all are more confortable with it to work around and fine tune.

A few minutes ago I replied about megane 2lts head. No doubt that it would be a good head to have with TB's or DCOE's since its inlet port shape is more friendly for the inlet manifold to have not that long runners. ok you mesure the inlet from the valve to the tip of the trumpet, but using a inlet manifold with a smaller lengthy runners you can have more fine tuning options using different trumpets lengths.
btw too small inlet manifold is also BAD for DCOE carbs since the fuel needs "room" to get on the air flow.
